One former contestant said she saw Naked and Afraid, not as a test of toughness, but as a test of creativity. Unfortunately, that creative approach was also used by the producers when it came to telling authentic stories. The predators, parasites, sunburn, cold, and hunger were real. But some of the interpersonal drama was made up. All in the interest of must-see TV.
